The Northwest Indiana Symphony is dedicated to providing quality orchestral programming that promotes opportunities for enjoyment and expands interest in and understanding of diverse music. The symphony is a cultural asset that serves as a unifying force for Northwest Indiana communities.

The Northwest Indiana Symphony is comprised of the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra, the Northwest Indiana Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Northwest Indiana Symphony Chorus, and the Women's Association.

The orchestra, a group of 75 rostered professional musicians is under the leadership of Music Director and Conductor, Kirk Muspratt.  The orchestra plays a full season of subscription concerts, in addition to a number of educational outreach initiatives, designed to allow interaction and personal involvement by students represented in each program.

The Northwest Indiana Symphony Youth Orchestra, an auditioned group of student musicians (aged middle through high school) is under the leadership of Youth Orchestra Conductor, Philip Bauman and annually performs two concerts each year.

The Northwest Indiana Symphony Chorus, an auditioned, volunteer group of over 100 voices, is under the direction of Dr. Nancy Menk, Chair of the Department of Music at Saint Mary's College. Annually, they perform many concerts both with the orchestra and independently.

The Women's Association boasts well over 120 members advocating the society's programs and continues as the society's most successful fundraising arm. In addition to their yearly pledge, WANISS also hosts a number of fundraisers including the holiday extravaganza Festival of Trees, the May Wine Brunch and others.

In addition to ticket sales, which account for only 38% of the cost to support a professional orchestra with a budget of approximately $1.1 million, the Symphony, a non-profit corporation, seeks to raise the remaining income from corporations, area foundations and individuals.

The Northwest Indiana Symphony will continue to offer powerful concerts and educational programs to the public, and the dynamic Music Director/Conductor, Kirk Muspratt, will continue in his creative efforts to take the stuffiness out of classical music and make it more accessible to everyone!
