Florence Price’s Andante Moderato showcases rich, glowing string writing and the unmistakable voice of the first African American woman to gain national recognition as a symphonic composer. Acclaimed violinist Desirée Ruhstrat takes center stage for Sibelius’ Violin Concerto, a breathtaking masterpiece filled with soaring melodies and Nordic atmosphere. Michael Daugherty’s Harp of Ages, featuring harpist Nichole Young, traces the harp’s journey through history, myth, and popular culture—from King David to jazz harp innovators—with nods to unexpected icons like Harpo Marx and  Star Trek’s Uhura.
